I am rather new to the pleasure of centipede-keeping. I have one adult S. subspinipes. And i'm soon to aquire an unknown, unwanted specimen I have been offered. Just wondered what environmental conditons people provided their Scolopendra?

I provide a temp in the high 70's, but this seems cooler than some keepers provide. I based this on temperatures recommended for other tropical inverts (tarantulas etc)

What frequency and quantity do you feed? At present i'm offering 1-2 large crickets once weekly. Again based on feeding tarantulas i've cared for. But if Scolopendra is a more active forager, does it have a faster metabolism and greater energy requirements than more sedentary tarantulas? I am cautious to overload its digestive system.

Has anyone found any problems with regards to ecdysis? any tips besides maintainig correct humidity and no disturbance?

Whats your preffered substrate? I use peat to a depth of 2-3inches. I scattered a few grass seeds in the tank, and even with just dim, indirect light from a window at the other side of the room,i've got 2" grass growing!! and it looks ace - just don't put too much seed in cos you'll never see your centipede.
