Suposedly the Vietnamese Giant Centipede is dangerous because it bit a girl in it's native country on the head and she subsequently died, but because of the poor medical condition of her small town, it probably wasn't all the centipedes doing. I hear that although not deadly, the bite (or pinch since they don't really use they're mouthparts to envenomate, but modified claws) can be so painful that people stick their hands into boiling water to aliviate the pain.....
People put their hand or whatever's bitten in hot water because it's believed the heat breaks down the venom to some extent.

Close, but not true...That did happen, but it wasn't in it's "native" country (which it doesn't have a particular one). It happened in the Phillipines, and apparently it's the only death ever recorded by a centipede bite.
