I don't know much, but from what I've heard they are extremely hard to care for. No one has reported them surviving in captivity for very long at all (1/2 a year max by one figure).
I've been raising and trying to breed Giant African Millipedes and Giant Pill Bugs for over 20 years and it ain't easy. I lost a lot of pedes and pills over a period of time. I have a Asian entomologist friend who went over to Africa and Asia to study their life and habitats. Over a year ago, he came to see me and he showed me in his scientific log book the temperatures, humidity, food they eat and other statistics. After studying his notes and from what he told me, he tryed his hand at re-producing the habitats with the same soil, forest debri and other major factors and finally his GIANT PILL BUGS are thriving. In the past number of years him and I and others at this millipede forum who tryed raising pill bugs talked about "fungus" or some sort of strange markings forming on the pill bugs and then they die.. The new method my asian friend and i are trying according to his studies seems to be working so far. He has his pedes and pill bugs not only thriving, but some are breeding and there's NO strange markings appearing on the pills at all.. If you want to know more about this, look else where in this millipede forum where i posted the info he told me what to put in the aquariums.
