my two beardies i think eat too much?

slipperyjankens Oct 12, 2003 10:05 PM

Ever since i got my two babies it seems as if they are bottomless pits for food! i have never got to the point where they were full and didn’t eat any more. i think so far in one day the female has eaten about 20 or so crickets. is that ok? Should i limit how much they eat or let them eat until they are full? Please help! Also is it ok for me to feed them mealworms as well or are they too young? They are 8 – 10 inches right now.
thanx

also, when you feed crickets just let them eat as much as they can in 10-15 minutes. when i dump the crickets in they all gather in one corner for some reason and my beardie just goes to the corner and sits there bobbing for crickets. i usually put in 20 at a time until time is up for eating. if he stops earlier and goes to his basking spot i don't put anymore in.

i dont mean to be repetitive but i want to make sure that this is ok. do others agree with this?

you also mention you have 2 beardies. i've heard you should feed them separately because one might be more dominant and cause the other to not eats as well. someone else could probably explain better about this since i've never seen this only owning 1 beardie.

yea i have noticed that when i feed them the female has been more aggressive towards eating. it does not seem that the female is more dominate since she is smaller and a female. the male does not show to mind this and does seem to take his time when eating, but does seem to be eating fine. also i noticed that my beardies are more active at night and the male seems only to eat at night. well i hope it is fine for them to eat together but i would love to hear suggestions.
