the use of perlite

chondro55 May 28, 2003 01:34 AM

Can someone tell me what the use of perlite in combination with vermiculite is for incubating eggs?

Thanks,
Danny

I use only Pearlite in a weight for weight mix i.e. same weight of pearlite to water, to hatch all my eggs. Since switching to just pearlite, I have had a better hatch rate with both python and lizard eggs. It doesn't compress like vermiculite and allows the humid air to permiate all round the eggs.
