Common snapper....he is bigger than a quarter.
Fluval 2plus filter, heater (tank temp is 80 degrees)
half shallow, half deep.
Very clean water.

Let me know if the setup is good or not...thanks.

Here is a pic of him on his Skull.

His name is Aggro.

Nice setup... I would make more of it water, and a little less land. Just a few more inches. And be careful he doesn't get stuck in that skull as he grows. I'll post pics of mine soon...

Thanks..ill add some more water.

Also...he climbs to the top of that tree branch thing every day and stays up there for hours on end. Until he is dry as a bone and doesnt move (until i put him in water). Is he trying to hibernate or something. Why is he always up there? Also, its a long way down when he decides to make the plunge into the water.

what’s the water temp set at, also your water volume is probably allot less than the heater meant for. So if that meant to heat 20 gallons and you have it set at 72 it may very well be 76 so you need a thermometer in there. Snappers like to be able to breath while there are still on the bottom of the cage so make sure you don't put it too high for now . Snappers typically aren't baskers and I find it odd yours does so for that long and that often. I've heard of heaters breaking and the animals getting electrocuted so make sure that not happening, your water really shallow never let that heater be even slightly above the water line.

sometimes turtles that don't normally bask much leave the water if it is too hot or too dirty.

And be really careful about him getting stuck in the skull...turtle Do get stuck in things and drown.

the water temp is, like the others said, something you want to know.

The temperature I stated above is the tank temp....I have a thermometer in there already.

Im still confused about the water depth...if anyone can explain that to me in further detail i'd appreciate it.

thanks.

O sorry 80 is a good temp just don't go over 82. As far as water depth goes you want to provide it a depth that will allow it to breath while its still able to lay on the bottom. This may go as far as the turtle having its legs extended and the neck all the way out just having its nose above the water but no deeper than that for now.

I have had a heater to bust because i let the water get to low. (poor care on my half) It was like acid was put in the water. The fishes stimachs were gone and the turtle looked like it was sinned. and the water had turned green. No it wa not algae. i don't know what it was though.
