New Member (HELLO!) Few questions please

CodeZero Jan 27, 2007 10:09 AM

First off, Hello everyone. I've been interested in Giant Millipedes since I 1st saw them, and recently we set up our 55 gallon for a few of them.

What I have...

We just got a pair of African Blacks and a Texan Yellow and Brown yesterday., the tank is set up so that the sub is 1 inch of sand, 4 or 5 inches of coconut "ecosoil" stuff, then a layer of bark litter and some moss (no emerald), I have a hollowed out log and a raught tree for climbing / hiding. The tanks heating is 80 on the hot side and 70 on the coolside (gradient over 4 feet) with humidity between 60 - 80 (Havent set up my tank humidfire yet)

Questions I have...

One of the Africans and the Texan are doing great... however on the way how we noticed that the other African was missing an antenna... he was moving so I didn't think much of it.. Last night and today, it's slow, and it won't curl at best it tucks it's head to cover it's eyes and that's about it. It ate some lettuce, some cucumber and a bit of a green grape...but it's just not acting like the others..this isn't normal is it..I feel that I got either an old one...or something, but it's going to die right?

What other insects can I put in the habitat with the pedes? I've got some pillbugs on order since it's winter here, but what other buggies can co-inhabit the tank?

any other little tidbits of info would be great!

Thanks guys!

well it died...

anyone know anything about Vietnemese milli's? I've got one that's kinda missing in the tank, I don't want to poke and prod around the substrate looking for him just to make him mad...but it is normal for them to chill out underground for a few days at a time?
