scolopendra lifespan

djs27 Aug 08, 2007 03:42 PM

What's the typical lifespan of a vietnamese scolopendra? I've been told by zoo keepers that 6 months is usual. Is this correct? It seems a little low.

Thanks for any help.

I had a Scolopendra gigantea for over 10 years before it had passed away from old age. When I purchased it, the length was 10 inches. At the time of death, it was 11.5 inches.

I doubt very much if the lifespan of the the Vietnamese Scolopendra is 6 months or less. That would signify lack of proper care requirements. If the centipede is purchased in a stressed or diseased condition, then it will also tend to die early.
