how much would you see a giant centipede in captivity. i love centipedes but have never owned one befor. what would be a good, big starting centipede that is very active? i was thinking a viatnamese centipede or a peruvian centipede.

I've had a giant vietnamese centipede for a year now, and i have only seen it active during the day just a couple of times. It waits until it is completely dark and then becomes active. there are times when it becomes inactive for over a week at a time, but that is usually after it eats a mouse, or is about ready to go into a moult. If you want to be able to watch the centipede when it is active, you should have a red bulb to watch it. for some reason when the red light is on they still think its night. centipedes are pretty cool pets, just dont ever try to touch it, or put it in an insecure cage cause they can pry off lids and squeeze through tiny spaces. have fun dude.
