Here is a female brown recluse. I'd post a picture of a "wood spider" if I knew what that was...maybe you're thinking about a wolf spider?.....let me know. ECO

it looks almost exactly like that!!!!!!! except its a bity darker...it was about an inch in total length,with the legs scrunched up...you think a wolf spider could kill a pinky from one bite within seconds? to my knowledge they arnt venomous, and they usually go after insects right? this spider ran across a 5 gallon tank to the pinky, jumped on it, bit it, and backed up...and the pinky started having spasms and then went stiff within seconds!!! it was pretty cool...thanks for the info, any more would be appreciated...you guys are a big help

Actually, I think you may have a Heteropoda venatoria, a huntsman spider that looks a lot like a brown recluse. It sounds like your spider was pretty aggressive, but brown recluses are usually very timid in temperament.
