Over the last few years that i have been breeding L.hesperus, i have not been seperating the babies. What i find very interesting is that when the babies are left in the same container as mom they also feed with her. I mean WITH her (not too special, i notice most latrodectus do the same in captivity). She does the usual catch food. Once killed all the babies come in and join in on the feast. I also experimented with the amount of food given and cannabalism. Although the babies would take a meal wherever they could get it (ie. their bros/sisters), mom never seemed to try and capture a baby. They would literally starve to death, without harming any of the babies. Keep in mind this is all inside a large glass jar, so it may have no merit. Just some observations i have made over these last few years.
