>>I live in Bakersfield, CA so I'm not new to widows but I am new to keeping them as pets. I caught my first widow (species to be determined soon hopefully...) a few weeks ago and things seem to be going quite well with her.

I do not think widow breeders typically advertise themselves or it could just be there are not that many out there. Usually people that you see advertising as having widows are those trying to sell wild caught individuals.
There are a few reptile/invert dealers that occasionally get widows in from breeders. Glades Herp (Florida) and Regal Reptiles (Rhode Island) often have a decent selection of spiders including widows.
I have no problems getting southern widows and northern widows locally as I can just catch/raise my own. I have a friend who occasionally sends me westerns she finds living in her tortoise's house. This year I got some viable egg sacs and spent the summer raising the spiderligs up. Now I am just waiting for the breeding to take place so I can start the cycle over.
I recently picked up some red widows from Regal. In the spring when the weather is more accommodating I will likely try Glades for brown widows to complete my 'collection' of the natives. Then it'll be time to start tracking down a source for australian redback widows.
