A few questions about a new Variolus Widow

phib Apr 01, 2004 12:08 AM

Can someone please explain how they eat? My new widow seems to hunt down her prey (Crickets) and drag them to the center of her web rather than wait it out. Is this normal? Also, where can I find GOOD small glass encosures with SECURE lids online? She has an abdomen the size of a pea. Is this as big as she will get and how long does this species live??

Sorry about all those questions, I try to have a good knowlage about the animals I keep.

Thanks for any help,

Brian

Ok Maybe that she made a direct hit on the criket which stoped from moving n began the liquid process of eating but sometimes if the insect bigg enough it wont give out on dieing yet thats when BW wait it out til there prey completely dead, and for containing you BW ill begin in a pet store that supplies tanks with secure lids with fence type on the top of it any size is good just that you have to decorate it if you have the need, i use the 1 i mentioned but with a uv 15 watt lamp etc.
