Brown Widow Eggs.

liliana Apr 06, 2004 01:20 PM

We think we have Brown Widows all over our back porch and the outside of our house. We're almost sure these are brown widows, hourglasses and all. Their egg sacks, however, are perfectly round white balls (about 1/2 inch in diameter I'd say) with white points sticking out all over it. None of the egg sack pics on this website had the little points these things have. Are these brown widow eggs? Thanks!

yes, they are brown widows, latrodectus geometricus,
Bron Widows unlike the black widows have tufts all over the eggsacks.
They are extremely common and though not as dangerous as a black widow they are still dangerous. Though they will almost never bite and are very shy, so you have nothing to fear.
