I found some western tussock moth larvae one day and brought them home with me and kept them as pets. I fed them their favorite food: california poppies. I kept them in a Critter Keeper. My plan was to keep them until they pupate and let them fly away. I soon did research and found out that the female of this moth species has NO WINGS! as you can tell, this screwed up my plan. About 3 weeks ago they went into coccons and just a few days ago 2 have hatched, or whatever you call it. Wouldn't you know it, they're both FEMALE! It's been a few days now and they're just hanging onto their cocoons and doing nothing. I don't know what to do with them. I want to do what is best for them but I don't know what is. Should I just put them outside? i don't want to starve them. I don't even know what they eat. Please help me. I want my moths to continue to live happily. What should I do?
