Hi Andrew,
Yup, lots of folks ask for i.d. but that's part of what it is for
Your description could be several different caterpillars. because it is "fuzzy" I would begin with the tiger moth caterpillars. Go here http://www.npwrc.usgs.gov/resource/2000/cateast/tigermot.htm and look at the few pix. These are cats of eastern forests but if there is one similar you can do a google search for the scientific name and see what you get.
here's another site that you can view by hariy, bristly, etc.

hope this gives you some direction
as for photo...you can resize with several different programs some that mayu already be on your computer and/or one that came with your camera. Some that are likely on your computer are Microsoft Picture Viewer. You can resize there. You can also post a pic for free at webshots.com
>>Can anyone please help me identify a caterpillar for me? I would post a picture but its not letting me upload the photo, and my camera wont let me resize it, so ill tell ya what the little guy looks like:
>>
>>Black and fuzzy
>>A little bit of red-brown
