Hey, I found a terrific and really inexpensive source for all the tobacco hornworms one could want. I'm getting mine from North Carolina State U's own insectary and they are nowhere near as expensive as Manduca project or Mulberry Farms.

Still no luck on finding anyone with Io's yet, but through another forum, I've located some sources for Cecropia, Luna, Polyphemus and such in reasonable quantity, but really, I am more interested in just Io's and sphingids.

Rather than buy the expensive hornworm [fake] feed, I'm going to wait for my natural tobacco to grow before buying a big bunch of M. sexta ova. I'll still be looking for some true tomato worms, though [M. quinquemaculata].

gee, I don't check this forum too much in the winter months but a lot has happened here in the last week!

So that is cool about the mnaduca's! Yeah, the chow gets pricey. I have to rear my feeder silkworms (bombyx) on chow (no choice and they are a perfect food for my cham) and it gets pricey.

Did you ever join WLSS?? Getting cocoons or eggs from Bill assures you quality. If my few io's eclose next summer and I can get some wild pairings I will send you eggs. They are all in the deep freeze right now (we have had a very snowy winter - I love it!) passing the time in the barn.

Hi, yes, I am still interested in the Io ova as well as any Luna or Cecropia you may part with. I have not yet joined the WLSS. I just need to have those extra funds on hand, as well as just buying the sextas I want. Gee, it almost seems like cheating now, after comparing NCSU's prices to those of Carolina Bio Supply, Manduca Project or Mulberry Farms. LOL!
