Hi - where do you live? I ask b/c if you found one recently it is probably in diapause. Woolly Bears are one of the lepidoptera that spends the winter in its larval stage so you may often stumble upon them under leaves and other secure places. They do not need food during this time and should be left alone. If you want one over the winter months you will have to provide an environment similar to outside, but should be collected while they are still active.
