Hi,
It is definitely a sphinx moth (sometimes called hawk moth) of some kind. A bit more info may help to determine what species...

where do you live?
could you see any color/pattern on the under/hind wing?
Can you get a better pic?

Also, post it's size. Sphinx moths vary in size. It looks like you have one of the Manducas.

hmmm... not sure about it being a Manduca b/c it seems to be lacking the pumpkin on abdomen and appears to have the "cut out" on forewings, but MIGHT be Manduca rustica depending on location.

Lele, I had thought of that, too. In fact, my screen is so dark, I can't see the color of the abdomen, but I believe a rustica would show more white. This is why I did ask for the size as well. I had even thought of Duponchel's sphinx, too.
