I've got monarchs this year yay!. Last year sucked really bad - only managed to find 6 cats and then only 2 made it to adult - the others were parasitized. I had such high hopes for a good tagging season and only used 5 out of the 100 tags I ordered. Quite bummed. This year I only ordered 50 tags and decided to hedge my bets a little and ordered two rearing kits from Monarch Watch. This morning the kit arrived. 30 little cats (there were 33 but it looked like the box may have gotten flipped during transit as the agar in one of the holding cups was messed up and the cats in that container were squished). Of course as luck would have it yesterday I saw an adult female monarch flittering in the front garden all day yesterday. Today I checked and found 13 eggs! I think I may (fingers crossed) actually run out of tags before all is said and done with the monarch season LOL. I collected the eggs so I can raise up parasite free cats and it is easy enough to just grab fresh leaves from the garden every morning and afternoon.
