Butterfly Rainforest

Hi:

Yesterday I visited the McGuire Center for Lepidoptera & Biodeversity at the University of Florida. In addition to a collection containing 4 million species of butterflies & moths, they have a 6,400 squarefoot living exhibit featuring 65 species of butterflies fluttering around.

The link is to my website where you can see ~200 high resolution picture I took while there.

Enjoy,
Al

Wow - lots of photos! Very nice!!

Maybe you meant 4 million actual specimens? To my knowledge there are less than 200,000 described species of moths and butterflies combined. Lepidoptera is second only to beetles (Coleoptera) in number of species. The insect world is one heck of a crowded place (if you're a Lilliputian lol!)

I might check it out next time I go to FL. I have been to smaller ones here in the north, but I am sure not nearly as impressive.
