muses for moths

pilsbury Aug 03, 2006 08:13 AM

a friend and i were discussing uses for the vast number of moths i seem to gather in the porch of my apartment and he in his bedroom, we were wondering are moths waterproof and are they warm?

I plan to use different varieties of moth to re-skin the roof on my 89 golf clipper cabriolet and he plans on making a coat for his moth-phobic girlfriend...

can you advise the best moth for each job,

thanks in advance

James and Ross,

as for your musings about using moths all I can say is have fun! Waterproof - lol! Warm? why do you think they are always headed toward a light?

What you might actually find interesting is to look closely at some these little creatures and how spectacular their colors and marking can be. Sure, many seem to be just white, gray or brown but grab a camera and some clear eyes and you will find things like in the link below. Many of their caterpillars are even more spectacular!

Btw, I'd love to see the finished products you come up with - good luck with that, since they all but fall apart when handled, especially once dead
