Buttefly identification needed...

pilonm Dec 05, 2006 08:59 AM

Hello,

Here is a butterfly that I would like to identify... This photograpy was taken against my window at Sherbrooke Quebec (near Maine/Vermont). I'm hesitating between Habrosyne scripta and Habrosyne gloriosa...

Do you have any idea about it? What do you think?

Thank you again in advance,

Michel

Hi Michel,
I am not familiar with either of these and it looks like this one had just eclosed and had not fully extended and dried its wings

My suggestion is to go to www.bugguide.net and to their I.D. request page - I am sure someone will be able to help you out. If you find out please let us (me) back here know the result.

good luck!
lele

Hello lele,

Finally I will go with Habrosyne scripta for several people indicated me that species... I can't reject H. gloriosa but as this species is less common in my area, H. scripta becomes a good guess!

Thank you very much for your help!

Michel
