Moth to identify please...

pilonm Aug 21, 2007 09:57 AM

Hello,

When we look closely at moths we can see sometimes nice colors... It is the case here with that green moth which I ignore the family/genum/species...

Is somebody able to identify it ?

Picture took at Sherbrooke Quebec (near Vermont/Maine) last June 18th...

Thank you very much for your help

Yes, the forewing so often hides lovely colors and markings! I will scour my books and see what I can find. I would say an owlet (Noctuid) and possibly a Dagger (Acronicta)?

Also try bugguide.net - you know I always suggest them

Hello lele,

Finally, I found it

It is a moth of the Geometridae family and the species is Pasiphila rectangulata!

Thank you very much for your help
