What to feed tortoise

WaGuy82 Oct 13, 2003 02:11 AM

Hi everyone. I'm new to the forum. I was wondering what would be good to feed a baby sulcata tortoise. I do have a home with a basement that is reinforced and can serve as housing when he/she gets large. I also have a fenced yard. My question is regarding feeding. I am currently feeding mostly timothy and blue grass hay. I also supplement with some collard greens and spaghetti squash. Is mazuri an acceptable food to add to their diet?

Study up on them first before you get one.If you do your homework on them you will find out what they eat and the rest of the info on them.

I have done my homework. That's why I'm asking. I live in a cooler climate and do not have access to the different varieties of grass year round. I know they need alot of roughage in their system and vegetables should be fed only in small amounts.

I highly recommend Mazuri tortoise diet as a supplement. It seems to provide some missing nutrients that make for some very nice development. The stuff is perfectly suited for a person in your situation (nonavailability of foods in the winter months).
