Here's a pic of a Mantid, or I should say one of several Mantids that always hangs arond on my house. How much longer can I expect these guys to be active during the fall. This is in eastern Virginia. I love these guys

That is a female chinese mantid. They don't have much time left. First very cold night will probably kill them. First frost will take them all out for sure. Nice pic BTW.

I just read your post again and I saw eastern Virginia. Yeah they don't have much time left at all. They will live just a little longer the further south you get.
