Has anybody ever found these guys out in the field before? I know they are native to US, but which part? What are my chances of finding them in northern California?

Thanks,
Andrew

According to Orin McMonigle's book 'Praying Mantids: Keeping Aliens', this species is found throughout the southern US, east of the Rocky Mountains, so it looks like you probably wont find them up there. This certainly is quite a unique species, both in appearance, and it's method of reproduction. Speaking of Mr. McMonigle, he presently has oothecas of this species for sale. He can be contacted at Mantidsassassins@yahoo.com for more information.
