Raising Osh mantid

goddard Apr 12, 2005 01:49 PM

A few weeks ago i purchased 2 ootheca
One of them is outside ziptied to a rose bush and the other i plan to incubate and raise a few.
I have kept a mantis as a pet once before.
But i have never raised one from nymph
Im pretty sure i understand the procedure but i can use all the help i can get
Food: aphids and i got a buttload of them haha
water: im not sure but when i had the adult i would periodically give it a gentle mist with a spray bottle
and err i know they have canabalist tendancies but i have kept nymphs in large quanities before and as long as they are kept fed they seem to almost ignore eachother.
Also im using planting soil at the base of my terrerium and a couple of fake plants. I have the ooth currently hanging from dental floss off of a twig. Is there and exact height or anything i need to worry about for hatching. All the help you all can give me will be greatly appreciated. Mantis are by far the most wicked
