One of my mantids was mated around a month ago and still hasn't produced any egg cases?she's huge and has been for a good couple of weeks, any ideas what could be wrong?is it possible for mantids to get egg bound?
also she's started to produce little irridescent blue sacs from between her segments, only show when she's fat, so obvioulsy just the skin expanding but why the colour?

I don't know what species of mantis do you have. But some species of mantis can store the spermaphore for a long time before laying an ootheca. She probably just waiting for the right moment and right place to lay a big ootheca. As long as she is mated and no spermaphore rejected, she should produce fertiled ooth, just wait a little longer.

how do i know if she rejected it?she may have?
still not laying though she seems healthy, but getting quite old now so worried she'll just die? think she's chinese or just a plain african type,around 5inches and green. Usually they lay a number dont they?
p.s. any idea what those blue bits are?
