how long are ooths good for?

kilombo Jul 04, 2005 12:28 PM

Hey everyone, we got 3 chinese ooths and a flower mantis ooth in the fridge for later hatching. My question is how long will they last for in the fridge? I don't want to keep them in there so long that they dont hatch.
Also, we got a chinese ooth in the mail, and it's been about 4 weeks. We've been incubating, misting, 50-60 humidity, the whole nine yards. At what point should we consider it unfertile and hatch a different one?
Thanks
MEl

Hi, do not put flower mantis ooth in the fridge, it spoiled the ooth. Flower mantis ooth is usually tropical species so keeping it cold will kill the eggs in side .

You can put chinese mantis ooth in the fridge up to 3 months, but when you do, keep the chinese ooth in the air tight container so the moisture do not dry up from the container.

When you incubate the chinese ooth, keep it around 80F and spray once in a week. If after 8 weeks you do not see any hatches, the ooth is normally bad one. Hope this help.
