Does anybody know of food other than oak, bramble, raspberry, or ivy that I can feed him? The guy that I bought it off said that he will eat romaine lettuce, but he only took a few bites out of my bromeliad. He also does not seem active. Could it be the colder temperature?

Well, if your thorny fella isn't dead (I see you posted a while ago) I just got mine feeding on Wandering Jew and they are doing great. I have 6 nymphs that had been feeding on raspberry, rose, reluctantly on pothos then I tried the wandering jew (it is a house plant). I plan to just keep them on it year round as a staple and give them treats of rose and raspberry in the summer months. Hope your guy made it!

Thank you for your interest. I'm glad to say that he is doing well. He molted and is enormous, though I'm not sure if he is full size. I witnessed him eating romaine lettuce and parts of my bromeliad several times. He seems lazy, and then the next morning I find huge chomps out of the leaves. Thanks again for your help.

Hi - Glad to hear it is still alive, your post sounded like it was no longer eating the romaine. Yes, they feed at night and mine hang at the bottom the tank during the day or if their is enough foliage they will sometimes hide in their, sometimes on top of one another.

How enormous? I have three nymphs close to mature but don't expect them to get more than about 3" I really like this species, they are quite friendly. Quick, but seem to move in spurts so easy to retieve. Do you keep any others?

Mine is about 3 inches. I also have three Vietnamese Stick insects, Medauroidea extradentata. They are all doing fine and have molted once since I got them in October. They also eat the romaine/my plants. I have them all in the same tank with various plants, and a Giant Millipede.
