What is the best way to feed off Roaches

alphadragon Aug 21, 2004 06:47 PM

Since they can climb walls and are very quick I was wondering if I have to bug proof my cages. I also wanted to know if Lobster Roaches or the Hissers that I am going to win in Bennett's Photo Contest....lol are capable of multiplyiing and surviving in a Southern California Beach community.

if you dont bug proof the cages then spray the floor with a strong roach killer. remember if you spray the floor, anything that hits the ground is garbage and cannot be fed off. So Cal is great for roaches. keep the temps at 80-87 and humidity around 50% and you will have roaches everywhere.

Hey Bennett I saw your setup and I was wondering if they can be in the dark all the time and also how do you compensate for ventilation in your setup. Well thanks for the info.

they are in the dark except feeding and cleening time. With the tubs stacked up I have to have HUGE holes in the lids to pevent condensation and still every once in a while it gets really humid, especially when the tubs are filled past capacity. The room also has a fan to improve airflow that goes 24/7. In the winter I also run a heat lamp to keep the chill out of the air.
