orange spotted or orange head- which are better?

DerekMoynihan Sep 26, 2004 12:56 AM

I have a colony of hissers and some discoids that I am trying to breed to cut my cricket bill. The hissers are breeding great and the discoids not so well, very slow to reproduce. I am looking for another non-climbing species and thought about orange heads or orange spotted. Any suggestions? Thanks, Derek

Keep your discoids on high protein cat or dog food, apples, oranges, and with plenty of heat and you should start to get results. They are a pretty good breeders, but not as good as the prosticus and dubia. The prosticus are very popular because they are a little cheaper, and they breed very well for a non-climber. There downsides are a stronger defense musk than the other species, but it has never bothered me. The dubia are a very good roach. Great breeders and the perfect size. There downside is they are very hard to find and generally more expensive. It takes time with any non-climber, but they are worth it.
