keeping roach levels down?

JonDaAzn Dec 04, 2004 11:32 PM

I'm planning out a scorpion colony (well, 3 of them) and have been looking at ways to feed them, raising roaches seems like an awesome alternative to having to pay for crickets constantly, of course, the problem is that roaches are so prolific, I don't want to have the colonies that contain thousands or hundreds of roaches, is there any method by which i can regulate the amount of roaches in a colony?

Your best bet is probably going to be selling off the raoches that you don't want that are extra. Thats what i'll be doing with my lobster roachs once my Discoids are going strong.

The easiest way to control the growth rate of most roach species is controlling the temperature they are kept at. The lower the temperature te slower they grow and breed. By increasing or decreasing the temp you can raise or lower the rate of production for the most part.

excellent, I shall be keeping my roaches relatively cool then, but I was also looking at some different species and they have fast breeders and slow breeders, generally how fast is fast and how slow is slow?
