Cave roaches & hissers together?

xenobug Sep 20, 2005 06:38 PM

I have a large tank with hissing roaches and millipedes that have been living peacefully together for years. I recently put a few giant cave roaches in the tank and I was wondering if that might have been a bad idea. I haven't noticed any damage to the millis or hissers yet but I've read that cave roaches are agressive. Is that true?

In the case of Blaberus giganteus, if you have more than one male in the same cage, they can be aggessive & possibly injure & kill each other. As far as I know, they do not attack other species; however, if fed enough protein, there shouldn't be a problem w/ hissers or millipedes.

Thanks for the info. I cleaned out my tank yesterday and it looked like all the millipedes and roaches were ok. I've moved the cave roaches into their own tank untill they get their wings then I'll probably put them back in with the hissers and pedes. I have a very tall tank with lots of branches for them to climb on. The nymphs like to hide under the substrate and I was worried they might have been munching on the pedes. I guess I didn't ruin my little forest ecosystem habitat I have going after all. Whew!
