Hissing Cockroach - Removing Egg Case

My son brought home 2 hissers guaranteeing no babies (they are both girls mom!).
I now have an egg case hanging out of one of them. Can I safely remove this without hurting the female? Can I pull it off? I know nothing about this subject. I do not want babies. Please Help!
