Today I was sitting outside of class, and this bug landed on me. I had never seen one like it before so I brought it inside and took photos. What is this?

Very cool looking insect. It looks like a treehopper-possibly in the Umbonia genus. I don't have an ID book to confirm this. Where was it found geographically?
