hey all

i have been wanting a uromastyx for so long -- two days ago, i finally got one! i'm thrilled -- he's a tiny lil guy, though, and i'm worried about his diet. how much should i offer him in a day?

thanks!

i have never heard of a specific amount, if he is small you might want to cut up the greens into small pieces...but offer him as much as he wants, and will eat. they will stop eating after they are full. i keep mine with greens 24/7 most of the time, soemtimes i take them out at night and put them back in the am.

Congratulations! Uros are so fun! I have six Uros my best advice would be to do a lot of reading on her/him. READ about impaction and dehydration. Read about fat counts and stress. Also read about lighting and heat. The best ways to learn is from other people who own Uros. Books are great too! Go to google and type in Mali Uromastyx a whole lot of info is availible. Give your little dude some time to get to know his home. When I first got "Sebastian" red uro. He sat on my shoulder for a hour. I also put a heating pad on my lap and let him sleep while I watched him. Baby Uros are sooooo Sweet! Remember to push the greens on nat a early age. ALL my uros LOVE peas and dandelions.
