Brumation length?

jimnyc Oct 13, 2003 09:34 AM

My beardie started brumating the day of the Northeast blackout and hasn't really surfaced since!

I've tried increasing temps and lighting to bring her out of it to no avail. How long can I expect her to be like this?

P.S. - is it normal to find her upside down? I thought she was dead the first time I saw her like this, but then she wiggled when I went to pick her up. If I place her right side up she'll slowly roll over again in time!

Brumation can last a couple weeks to a couple months. There's really no set time.
The rolling over upside down is a little weird. I've read that being on their back is dangerous for them and hard for them to breathe. I'm not certain that it's true tho.

I would for sure be worried about that. That is not normal for beardies at all to flip over, actually it is a sympton to some health problems. I would take her to the vet for sure if that happened to one of mine.
