Nutro Max Kitten Formula

coneycritters Jul 24, 2003 11:11 PM

Has anyone noticed Nutro giving your cats gas? Since we got Annabel, we've been feeding her the kitten formula dry food exclusivly. She was eating canned food only of various grociery store brands, before we got her. Ever since she ate the first meal of Nutro she's had gas. I've been figuring that it's probably because of the abrupt change in food. I'm just wondering if anyone else has had this happen. We also got some canned Nutro for treats, but since she's been so smelly, I didn't want to introduce another new food right now.-- Jennifer

Hi Jennifer,
I have always feed my cats nutro. Gabby the kitten was pretty stinky when i first switched her over. She was fed just canned grocery store cat food before I got her. And was extremely skinny. Of course I did not give her that stuff. She now doesn't have gas unless she sneaks some sort of table scrap from one of the teenagers.
It did take a week or so for her tummy to settle.
Now that I think about it Tucker has always had gas. But I think he is just a really gassy cat. He used to fart every time soem one picked him up. Of cours we would put him down really fast so I thin he made himself do it.
I have never feed canned food. It made Tucker sick, and Moxie and Crash well we don't want to go there. YUCK>
Good luck.

I've fed Nutro Max and Nutro Natural Choice for years now -- no gas problems in the cats...

I work in a pet store and alot of people come in saying nutro products cause gas. It could be because high phosphorous levels which is something you can try to check on the label, but unfortunately I don't think they have it listed which therefore probably means it's high.
