new baby, 2 cats, small apt.

Hello,
This is my first post to this forum. My wife and I are expecting a new baby, and are hoping to learn from the experience and wisdom of others.
We don't have a room we can close off for our new baby. Our big Russian Blue has large claws which have never been trimmed. Our longhair cat is very friendly and like to knead and burrow into blankets (at least I started trimming her nails early). I don't know if there will be any trouble, but I was hoping to hear if anyone else has lived through this. Will my cats harm my baby? This is my first child, and don't know how the cats will respond to this big change in our lives. Thanks, I

I don't have any experience with this myself but have several friends who have been through it. None have ever reported a problem. Of course, you have to watch them and prepare them for the event and make sure that they still get some time with Mommy and Daddy too. And when baby gets old enough to crawl about, she/he will need to be taught not to grab kitty tails or ears or she may get a scratch or two when the cats teach her for you. The cats will be curious so let them see and smell the new addition. Hopefully the members will have some suggestions for you
