Cat Enclosure advice

ERose Mar 01, 2004 09:29 PM

I would like to hear from anyone who has sucessfully
been able to enclose their cat in a fenced area.
We have a tiered wooden fence (mostof it is 6 ft heigh.)
Because it is tiered using cat-in net products
might be a problem. I had heard of people using corrugated
fiberglass at the top of their fencing as the cats cannot
find a hold on it to get over. Has anyone used this method?
any suggestions?? Rose

My cats only go as far as the screened in porch but I know of others that have done the fence thing. Scroll down on these topics, and see if any suggestions made earlier will help you. You might also post on the general topic cat board as it was a wider variety of members that may be able to help. Let us know

we use a 6wx6hx10L dog run kennel for our cats. We put a cover on the top so they cant get out. They have scratching polls in there along with a couple wicker beds and they love it. My 20 year old and 12 year old can't climb a fence but our others, we have 6 total, will jump the wall if giving the time and chance. We only let them have run of the back yard if we are out with them. I've read you can get this stuff that will 'hang' over the wall so cats can't climb out but I just as soon not chance it. Not sure what the name of the stuff is called though. :0)

We built a cat coop for our 7 cats and they just love it. We used chicken wire for the walls and a simple wood frame. A tarp covers the roof. They go right out the kitchen window to the porch and into their coop. Inside we build shelves of different levels so they can lay in the sunshine or roll and eat the grass. I would be lost without it and they would be fighting to get outside.
