Special Kitty Premium

Has anyone tried this? It's the Walmart generic of Fancy Feast. Pretty good ingredients and not too expensive for a premium...just thought I'd recommend it. -- Jennifer

Thanks for the suggestion. Didn't even know it existed. Of course with 18 furballs, they eat Friskies...1/3 a can every morning each with dry food always available

A friend of mine feeds her cat Special Kitty Regular (Walmart's equivalent to blue bag Purina Cat Chow). Her cat is now about 16 and is doing very well. I am an advocate for premium for my cats, but primarily because I need to watch certain ingredients for Stanley and his urinary problems. Female cats don't seem to have as many problems on store brands as males (males are more prone to urinary problems if they are neutered).

With that said, I know of many family/friends cats that have lived to 16 or 17 and one to 24 on grocery store available foods (Purina Cat Chow, etc...)

Julie's female is doing fabulously on Special Kitty Regular.

NOOO! I just wanted to let everyone know that this is a HORRIBLE brand of cat food! I have been feeding my cat, Garfield this for for a couple of years, and guess what? A week and a half ago, I had to take him into the vet because of a urinary tract infection. The vet said it was definitely caused by this low-quality food. Garfield is in the vet clinic still, and my vet bill is already at over $1200.00. I will NEVER feed my cats grocery-store cat food ever again. It's been a very stressful time for me, and an extremely painful time for my poor kitty. It really doesn't seem worth it to save 5 or 10 dollars on a bag of food, when it causes this much pain in the end.

We're obviously talking about two completely different products. I am talking about the rather expensive, but still in the average premium price range canned food from Walmart, that only comes in 3 oz cans, not the cheapo 5.5 oz cans of slop, that special kitty also makes and certainly not the dry food. I understand what you're going through, but actually reading the post is helpful. I don't think spending $150 every month on catfood makes me a cheapskate. The SK premium is very palatable to my cats, as well as being nutritionally sound, not terribly expensive and is convenient to buy.-- Jennifer
