Story time

PHMoxie Jul 06, 2005 04:13 PM

This board has been rather slow lately. I thought maybe we could all do a story share on kids and cats. I'm not the best at telling stories but I'll try.
Recently a stray cat found the home of some of my cousins. The boys are only 10 and 14. The younger boy is really loud, hyper and just a plain old normal boy, except when he is around the kittens. He becomes this quiet little kid. He pets and tells them how much he loves them. It was the sweetest thing.
Does any one else have children that totally change around their furbabies?

Good girl, wonder who taught you this trick. Ok, I have a nephew who is all boy. Also loud noisy and into everything. He is now 17 but when he was about 10 he stayed with me for a while. Foudini was just a kitten and still outside with her Momcat. He built her a little fort in the middle of the yard, made tents for her and coddled this little kit. I was standing by the back door watching him and he jumped up fast and she mewed and ran from him. He gently knelt down, and said "oh Foudini, I am so sorry....come back" and she did. When he left after his weeklong visit he made me promise that if I could not find a home for her when it got cold outside, I would bring her in so she would not be cold. Any one care to guess where Foudini resides??????

I never ran into any kids who changed around pets, but I do remember something precious my little sister did when she was about two. She watched our cat shake his head very quickly and said, "Kitty go round and round!" I guess it looked like his head was spinning.

When my sister was around 5 years old, our two resident cats disappeared. Some how we stopped at the local shelter a week later. We all went in to look at the kittens. Adam(13yrs old) and I (17 yrs old)liked them all of course. Sarah liked one little black and white kitten. Mom wasn't sure she really wanted to get another cat. Sarah started crying that she loved the kitten. Mom decided to get it. I took Sarah out to the car to wait. She says see I knew mom would get me the kitten if I cried. I was so different. I thought if I didn't say anything mom would do what I wanted. Anyway Chilly ended up coming home with us. He was Mom, Adam and Sarah's favorite cat. A week after we adopted Chilly. Mom decided he needed a playmate. That is when we adopted Rollie (the long haired kitty). My first long haired cat. I fell in love with his personality and always wanted long haired kitties after that.

When David and Paula lived here with me, they both had sort of a difficult time getting close to Katrina and KatyKatt. Also they were both a little leery of Samantha, who Paula called "the mean one".

They've been in their own home for a little over a year now. Now when they come to visit, although there is no difference in their behavior to the cats, both Katrina and KatyKatt come running out to greet them and want to be held by them. Also Samantha has really warmed up to them lately too. As always, Simba, is the regular little love bug to everybody and just eats it up when anybody loves on him.
