We should never feed cat foods from grocery store!

universaltopnutrition Sep 22, 2005 09:47 PM

There are researches for producing cat foods, which are sold through grocery stores. They use all kinds of human-rejected ingredients like beef tallow, by-products, low-quality meat or fat etc. That is why there are so many cats to be found cancers or urinary problems!

I just have to say that I agree! I had been feeding my cat, Garfield, Special Kitty brand cat food (sold at Wal-Mart), and he now has a BAD urinary tract infection, and the Vet told me it was caused by this low-quality cat food! I have now spent over $1100.00 in Vet bills, and as of this minute, he is 'blocked' again, and must go back to the Vet today! I wish we could BAN CHEAP PET FOOD!!!

Jill,
So sorry this has happened to your furbaby. I hope he gets better soon. Does your vet have him on a special diet food? Sometimes canned food is better for these types of cats since it contains more water.

Good luck, keep us updated.

Hello! Yes, the Vet has put him on a Dissulution formula to try and dissolve all of the struvite crystals. I am now buying the Medi-Cal pet brand food sold at the vet clinic. I had to take Garfield back to the Vet last night, he gave him some fluids and a couple of shots, plus he is on Clavamox. But, unfortunately, he is still in quite a bit of pain this morning (I can't even give him his pill right now). I think he will have to go back in again. I just want people to know what cheap pet food can do do your pets. Saving 5 or 10 dollars on a bag of food can cost you and your pet a lot of grief (it has currently cost me over $1200.00 and Garfield TOO MUCH pain).
