Polydactyl Cat

JaimeMarie Nov 20, 2005 01:53 PM

My friend has a kitten that has seven toes on both front feet. Four of the claws do not retract. She is clipping the nails but they still are out far enough to catch on things. She doesn't believe in declawing but thinks she might have to so the baby doesn't hurt herself. What do you all think?

I have heard of Polydactyls that had to have their claws removed. If they are causing the cat problems, I would talk to my Vet about it for sure. A little temporary pain would outweigh a whole life of pain, I would think!

That is what we were thinking to.
