Well I work at a pet shop, and lately our bags of hampster food have been coming in infested with moths and moth larva. So i brought some of the larva home and tried it out. The frogs love it. The larve is about 1/4 to 3/8 of an inch (too big I thought) they still eat it! This leads me to wonder how the frogs judge which food is too big for consumption.
Anyway there are a few problems with the larva. The frogs sometimes get a little frustrated because it is strong enough to hold onto moss or large particles in the tank. This makes it hard for the frogs to get them in their mouth and they often have to attempt to stick it multiple times. To solve this problem I put the larva in a small plastic dish.
Secondly the larva makes a better food for larger frogs, a 3/4 inch auratus wont attempt to eat them.
I'm going to try and identify the type of moth and also start culturing them. Once I get a good culture or three going i'll post again so if anyone wants to try them look for a post in the future about it.
