My Opinion Then Run.

catman1 Jan 03, 2006 02:38 AM

Well i have seen some very spirited discussions on this so i'm going to give my opinion then run.LOL
Well i Always have a saying that i follow."I would rather see a cat declawed to get a good home then not have a home and keep its claws.
Yes i am a cat owner or owned by a cat and he has his claws. He has totally destroyed my easy chair and i have taken steps to help my new one.I realize that all cats are not the sane and sometimes a person has to declaw to have a cat. This is a choice only the person can make.Different situations has different solutions but the important thing is give the kitty a home.
I read on how many pets are terminated every year.We can't save them all but giving a home to a cat is rewarding to you also.If you don't want to declaw keep nail clippers handy.
If you have to declaw to give a cat a home then do it and by a qualified Vet.

Very well put and in fact I have said the same thing many times. I have 16 clawed and 1 declawed. Samantha earned her declaw the day I found her hanging on the door frame with 3 feet and using the other one to remove the wallpaper. At least it explained why my wallpaper was coming off the walls. She is siamese and the most one tracked, single minded, stubborn feline ever bornShe will stop doing something, look at you when you say no and the very minute she thinks you are not looking go right back to it. She didn't just scratch, that I can stand...she destroyed, destructed and demolished things.

She is the one that was declawed many years ago. I drew the line at cat pulling wallpaper off the wall starting at the ceiling!!!

Oh and not only is she stubborn and single minded, but Samantha is also the most loving, ever present, sleeping as close to you as she can possibly get cat ever born She is always in the same room that I am in, including the bathroom and tells me in no uncertain terms when it is time for bed.

You are right, Samantha certainly has a mind of her own and being siamese has no problem verbalizing it. Thank you for saying she is beautiful, I think she is too and again you are right...she knows she is!!!!
