Big apple's herp poewer thermomstat

kurma Oct 13, 2003 11:28 AM

Hello,
I have a HERP POWER thermomstat and beeen using it for about a month or so, I also got there dual digital thermometer with it. I set up the herp power prop on highest of three cgaes that are stacked on top of eat other. The I had one probe from the thermometer on the bottom of the container taped to give me a good reading of the warm spot. Everything was all and well for awhile with the one cage that had the thermomstat probe right at 90, the other two cages where about 88-92. WEll couple weeks went by and I clean the cages only have to move the thermometers and thermostat not the heat tape (3'' flexwatts) when I put everything back together the themometers where giving my a reading of 90 from the thermomstat and the other cages 94 now! After about one week I ordered more flewwatt (the 4'' this time one from beanfarm) everythign back up like it was but now even the one that has the thermomstat is reading /- 4 degrees from what I have it set at and the ohter up 10!!!!! I paid 100 bucks for the thermostat and would be oretty upset if its messed up. Is it possible the thermometers are off? I've felt the bottom of the cages over the heat tape wit my hand the don't feel off, last night one said it was 102 degrees but it was only warm to the tocuh and I feel I could have left my hand on for 30 plus minutes without it getting too hot.

It's impossible to know if your themometer is off, or if your thermostat is off...

I would go buy another thermometer and see what it says... your best bet would be to buy an infrared temp gun from ProExotics for $35. They really are great and give instant readings.

If the thermostat is broken call Big Apple and see what they will do for you. I'm sure it has some kind of warranty?

And make sure your heat probe is in the right spot.
