VALERIAN ROOT

catman1 Feb 20, 2006 11:51 PM

Special Treat for your Cat!
Cats love valerian root.. Get some at your local herbal apothecary or you can grow the perennial herb yourself. Make your kitty happy..Catnip doesn't compare to this! Put the ground root on newspaper or an old sheet. You don't need too much, just a couple of teaspoons. Watch kitty roll, purr and love you forever more! This will not harm your cat in any way. He may smell a bit funny for a while because Valerian has a peculiar odor. An inexpensive way for your cat to play! Have fun with your cat!

Valerian root contains a terpenoid chemical valerinone. This chemical is very similar in nature and activity with cats as catnip's nepetalactone.

Our certified organic valerian officinalis root grown in British Columbia, Canada and in Washington State, USA is used to produce our line of pure valerian root feline pleasure pals, and our ever so potent valerian root oil spray.

Through the process of steam distillation followed by CO2 extraction and gravity settling, pure valeranic acid derivative oils are produced. The pure oil is diluted down using spring water to a specific and critical percentage that cats enjoy immensely. Pure valerian root oil is to potent for cats, but our tried, tested and true oil spray is just purrfect for kitty !

Cool! I have heard of Valerian somewhere before, but I thought it was an old fashioned medicine of some sort...
